Mornington Peninsula Vic
The Mornington Peninsula is located alluringly close to Victoria’s capital, Melbourne (95 km south). This pretty stretch of historic seaside villages, cool-climate vineyards & boutique food producers has long been a favourite with Melburnians and more recently, with interstate & international travellers. The Peninsula has access to three seafronts - sheltered Port Phillip Bay, wild Bass Strait & unpopulated Western Port. Mornington Peninsula NP extends along the s-w coast and features a 32 km walking track taking in an historic lighthouse (1858). Many sports including golf, fishing & walking are popular here with the main towns/villages being Mornington, Rosebud, Sorrento & Portsea. Arthurs Seat summit at 300m offers superb surrounding vistas.
Visitor Information Centre: Point Nepean Rd, Dromana. Tel (03) 5987 3078 or 1800 804 009.
